PRESS RELEASE – 05.04.16 – Nottingham

High-care food manufacturer Phoenix Group has strengthened its senior leadership team with the appointment of two new managers.

The Nottinghamshire-based company – which is the UK’s largest producer of cold pressed seed oils – has hired Richard Crowdy as sales and commercial manager and Sue Wassell as site operations manager.

Crowdy previously worked for a large contract packaging company in Newcastle where he dealt with clients including SCA, Unilever and Twinnings.

In his new role, he is responsible for managing relationships with new and existing clients. He also negotiates some of the deals for the buying of the seed, and the selling of the expeller (the shell and flesh of the seed that gets left over after oil has been extracted).

He said: “It’s a good career move for me. Phoenix Group is a company that’s growing quickly and dealing with some exciting clients; they are not afraid of experimenting and trying out new products. The new Southglade premises gives us the opportunity to get involved with concepts from the start.”

She takes up the role as site operations manager at Phoenix, responsible for managing customers’ expectations, site priorities and KPIs (key performance indicators) for the company.

She said: “I wanted something that would offer me a new challenge, and that’s exactly what Phoenix does. I’ve been helping to unleash the potential of site and putting some incentives into place to recognise the hard work of our employees.”
